Gardening Project
METcic, in partnership with the Student Environmental Society, University of Greenwich,
has an allotment in Gillingham, near the cemetery in Woodlands Road.
The purpose of the allotment is to provide a place where people can learn and share.
METcic students are welcome to come and take part in looking after the allotment, in return for
a share of the produce.
We are growing potatoes, onions, spinach, raspberries, strawberries and lots of other vegetables.
Although the plot is in a residential part of Medway, it has frogs, grasshoppers
lizards and slow worms (they look like small snakes but belong to the lizard family) which
are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981.
Arriva bus 176 stops right next to the allotment everyday.
